About the Project
Zeal Optics is a staple Colorado brand. Born and raised in the foothills of the Rockies, Zeal produces high-end eye ware for snowboarders, mountain bikers, trail-runners and outdoor athletes alike. With rugged roots and a clean product, we were tasked with creating a series of assets that could be used for all things print and digital. These typographic lockups and illustrations were used for everything from swag and apparel to ads and marketing collateral. Inspired by the great outdoors, these designs had a clean initial design, and then looked as if they were thrown down the mountains themselves.
Adam also had the opportunity to run around in the mountains for a few days where a handful of professional athletes, some good timers and himself were the subjects for Zeal’s 2018 fall/summer marketing and promotional collateral.
Design Approach
Intentionally versatile, the assets we created were able to be picked and pulled apart, and able to be used in pieces. A flexible system, the 7 created lockups ultimately functioned more like 20 individual pieces that could be used to highlight or call out additional elements or features within marketing and advertising collateral.
Outdoor Inspired
Each design was inspired by the outdoors, and some paid direct homage to the hierarchy and typography of the WPA National Park Serigraphed Posters.
