The Opportunity:

Art RiNo is River North Art District’s newest art festival. A celebration of all forms of art, Art RiNo is an opportunity to celebrate murals, music, art installations, workshops and more in RiNo, the bustling art district where 4 historic neighborhoods coalesce: Five Points, Cole, Elyria Swansea, & Globeville. In collaboration with the Westword Music Showcase, Art RiNo will take place from September 5th–11th, 2022.

The Solution:

RiNo is an old warehouse district just east of downtown Denver that has been updated into a trendy neighborhood bustling with trendy restaurants, fun bars and vibrant murals. This art district has an eclectic mix of old brick buildings and warehouses and more modern, industrial architecture. While updated and beautiful, RiNo still has an undeniable presence of grit and utility.

In creating the visual identity for Art RiNo, we considered 2 main factors: 1) How do you represent the neighborhoods that comprise RiNo Art District, 2) How do we capture the dichotomy of gritty warehouse district meets modern, growing neighborhood.

We landed on our visual solution by combining the textures and visuals of the actual surrounding neighborhoods with bold, clean typography and bold pops of color. Our design system was modular, allowing for easy application across vertical, horizontal and square aspect ratios, and was inspired by the gridded layouts of streets and neighborhoods.
